Nursing Leadership
Where am I?
– Conscious Leadership Group
I come back to this video regularly, before starting the work week, and when I am struggling with an interaction or relationship with another person. By considering “where I am,” I am able to remain true to my philosophy of nursing and remain open, curious, and committed to learning and assume positive intent in the person I’m interacting with.
As a nurse, communicating clearly with others is an essential skill. Often, we are faced with difficult conversations.
Brené Brown’s Engaged Feedback Checklist is a tool I use whenever I’m preparing for a conversation where I think feedback will likely be a part of it.

The Experience Cube, from the book Clear Leadership by Gervase Bushe, is a tool that helps anyone in any context talk about difficult topics. I find it helps me approach conversations in a more objective, curious way.

Philosophical Foundations
Throughout NURS608, I became reconnected with nursing theory and realized the applicability of nursing theory to modern clinical nursing practice. Nursing theories provide the framework to approach nursing care, education, and professional practice. This virtual panel brings nursing theory to the forefront and discusses the applicability and potential impact of nursing theory on some of the most pressing issues of our time.
